My Album Rating System This is what i do to judge albums. First, i rate each song: 1 - cream o’ the crap, I hate this song 2 - mmm, bearable if your in the right mood. Unique sometimes, but not quite good 3 - above most things out there 4 - best songs, can listen too any time, puts you in a good mood, better than any songs out there. Should be what’s on the freaking radio. gf- good filler. This song isn’t really a song, but a short spat of music that is in the album and makes it better as a whole. It does not take away from the album, but adds to it. Doesn’t realy count with the album, seeing how it is less than a minute and thirty seconds. * - one of my personal, favorite songs. Second, there are Number Ratings based on what I think of the album and consistency of interesting ideas and melodies. I add the points earned and divide by the possible points that could have been earned. For Double Albums (any album longer than 60 minutes) i round up to the nearest hundredth. My Rulings 1/8 - (0.0 -.34) 2/8 - (.37-.45) 3/8 - (.46-.54) 4/8 - (.55-.61) 5/8 - (.62-.69) 6/8 - (.70-.80) 7/8 - (.81-.89) 8/8 - (.90-.95) 9/8 - (.96-1.0) I Usually rate things out of 8 now, like 8/8, 7/8, 2/8, and the masterpiece rating, 9/8. So here are some rating equivalence's for other kinds of ratings: Out of 8 4 Stars Letters Out of 10 9/8 ****+ A+/A 10 or 10+ 8/8 **** A/A- 9 7/8 ***1/2 A-/B+ 8 6/8 *** B+/B 7 or 6 5/8 **1/2 B/B- 6 or 5 4/8 ** B-/C+ 5 or 4 3/8 *1/2 C+C 3 2/8 * C/C- 2 1/8 No Stars C-/D/F 1 |
