| Well, I have to say, I have never seen a choppier movie in the past 5 years. Whoever made this movie (directed, edited, cinematography, whatever) should be shot. It doesn't even look like they tried to shoot a movie (except for one surfing scene). It makes it almost impossible to enjoy the comic scenes because it just jumps around! Every 5 minutes you say, "What? Where are we now?". Even so, the comedy and acting are only so-so. There are some funny parts, don't get me wrong, but this is easily a debut screenplay by an inexperienced person. The supporting characters are getting old - yes, all those guys from Superbad and Knocked Up and 40 Years Old Virgin are in this, woo-hoo. Nothing in this movie made me laugh that hard, though it was "cute" at moments. You know why this kind of thing rarely works? Apatow didn't direct this or Superbad, which has the same basic problem as this, but people think it is good because he and the same actors are associated. THAT IS NOT TRUE. Forgetting Sarah Marshall comes off as amateur, like a mix up of The Break Up and any movie about running into your ex in a tropical location flick. Everything about it is so mediocre that is becomes less than the sum of its parts. Oh, I forgot to mention all of the awful sex scenes and penis shots that are supposed to be funny. To say they fall flat on their faces is an understatement. More people should start going to moves by looking at who directed it, not who stars in it. Critics who applaud this film also need to stop jumping on bandwagons. Plot/Originality - 45 Acting/Characters - 49 Dialouge/Screenplay - 59 Effects/Camerawork - 10 |
